What PhiloType is, and what is prohibited

Please check the following before using PhiloType.

What PhiloType is

  • PhiloType is a tool for understanding your own tendencies in thinking.

  • It does not measure ability, aptitude, or job performance.

  • It is not a medical or psychological diagnosis, and it is not a test whose psychological validity has been verified.

  • It does not measure or suggest neurodevelopmental conditions such as ADHD or ASD.

  • Your type is not fixed. It changes as your way of thinking changes.

  • No type ranks above another. Do not use types to judge or exclude other people.

  • The result shows a provisional tendency in your thinking. It does not determine personality, ability, or aptitude.

Prohibited uses

The following are prohibited.

  • Using PhiloType results as grounds for hiring, promotion, dismissal, transfer, or any other personnel decision.

  • Excluding, discriminating against, or mocking others because of their PhiloType result.

  • Using PhiloType as a substitute for psychological or medical diagnosis.

  • Using the PhiloType framework, type names, axis naming system, or philosopher placements for commercial purposes without written permission.

  • Modifying and redistributing the four-axis structure, type names, or philosopher mappings.

  • Forwarding, reposting, or publishing the contents of Personal Guides to third parties, including publishing screenshots.

Use in organizations

If you use PhiloType in a team or organization, please agree to the following principles.

  • Use results as a starting point for conversation, not as grounds for evaluation.

  • No type ranks above another. Do not exclude or favor particular types.

  • Results are provisional and do not determine a person’s personality or ability.

  • Do not store results in personnel records.

PhiloType is not affiliated with the Foundation or with The Myers-Briggs Company. PhiloType uses four axes designed independently from philosophical concepts and is distinct from the MBTI instrument.
